While the Grizzlies and Bears were gifted the BYE for round 5 of the TFL, the Honeybears headed to Dalby to play against the Gatton Redbacks on Saturday evening.

The Honeybears had travelled with a strong contingent and the match was off to a great start with captain Kim Priem able to secure the kickoff, and more desirable direction of play, at the toss.

With the setting sun such an integral element, the Honeybears decided to attack hard down the right-wing and it wasn't long before the tactic paid off for the Chinchilla ladies.

The Gatton fullback was no match for the pace and power of Grace Christoffel who was able to drive down the right-wing before whipping in a shot on goal. The keeper was only able to deflect the attempt and it fell to the feet of Nikola Stevenson who was clinical in securing the Honeybears first goal, 5 minutes in.

The next goal came when Sally Carroll found herself unmarked, and on the end of a corner from Stevenson, executing a well-controlled tap in for the Honeys second goal.

New player Vena De Las Carreras was next on the scoresheet, making an impressive back post-run to tap in Christoffel's cross, after only just subbing into the match.

2 minutes later and a De Las Carreras pass found Stevenson unmarked in the 18, the back post shot was low and hard.

The Honeybears were ecstatic to be 4 nil up at halftime and came out firing in the second.

Danica Milosevic, Priem and Carroll put together some impressive passages of passing and possession to have the entire Gatton contingent scrambling, with Milosevic able to slip through the line and secure the Honeybears 5th.

2 minutes later and the Honeybears were in again, Carroll getting her second with a lovely cross goal drive from the edge of the 18.

With the Chinchilla ladies comfortably in control coach Dennis Carroll began mixing up the combinations, giving centreback Megan Bolewski a run out on to right-wing. The changes allowed Gatton an attempted to rally, who able to hold off the Honeys for the next 20 minutes.

Bolewski was switched back into the defensive line up and Kayla Hungerford moved forward.

Carroll was able to put another on the board earning herself a hat trick, before Hungerford completed the domination, scoring the 8th and final goal.

The strong display was an important win for the Honeybears and will help to boost their morale as they head into an extremely tough match against Willowburn FC next weekend.
